The Volvo XC90 has been named the Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for three years in a row. We start with a safety cage made of four grades of high-strength steel.  We add Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS) in the front seats, Inflatable Curtain (IC) air bags for all seating positions, including the third row, and Side Impact Protection System with SIPS air bags. The XC90 also incorporates active safety features such as the world-first Roll Stability Control (RSC) that monitors the vehicle's angle and roll rate, Dynamic Stability Traction Control, and available Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).
